Today on Far Future Horizons, in light of this recent discovery, we present another exciting episode of the acclaimed science series Naked
Science that focuses on NASA’s mission Phoenix,
to Mars and its searching for water to determine if the planet has sustained
life in the past.
On May 25, 2008, NASA's Phoenix Lander entered the Martian atmosphere and landed on
its polar ice-cap in the last phase of a historic mission to investigate Mars'
past by digging down into the soil and ice - something that has never been done
before.
Scientists hoped that the mission will reveal a great
deal about Mars' geological history, but the biggest question they seek to
answer: was Mars ever a watery world? And if so, could it have harboured
primitive forms of life? This episode of Naked Science tells the story of this
incredible NASA mission while investigating the Red Planet's warm, wet past.
This and other episodes of the naked Science series
can be obtained directed from the National Geographic Channel’s online store.
