"Novus Ordo Seclorum" ~ "A New Order of the Ages" Came into Being on this Day July 4^th, 1776

Today July 4^th, 2016, we celebrate the birth date of a unique nation and a unique people. Two hundred and forty years ago, fifty-seven men with an “iron pen” and on the authority of the good people of the colonies, signed the Declaration of Independence, mutually pledging to each other their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor  thus, creating a nation whose very name is synonymous with ideas of freedom, liberty, and justice.

With the strength and resolve with which the Declaration was written these men forged a new nation and a new people noted for its rugged individualism and inventive spirit when confronted with the challenges of necessity in the face of a new frontier.

We are a nation whose structure of governance stands as the very hallmark of innovation in the very way a free people chooses to conduct their lives. Our nation and its freedoms are the cauldron from which a new and independent inventive spirit emerged. We are a people who never shied away from a challenge.

We are a nation of rebels and revolutionaries on the forefront of science and invention. We are a nation that gave the world the light bulb, the phonograph, broke the sound barrier, and finally the nation that reached for the stars and came back with a piece of the Moon. We are a nation that is poised to defy the very elements posed by the frontiers of Earth, Space and the Ocean.

Today on Far Future Horizons we celebrate the two hundred and fortieth anniversary of the founding of the United States of America by presenting the first two episodes of the acclaimed documentary series America, The Story of US.

In the sage words of President Barack Obama, the turning points in American history "remind us that our American story has never been inevitable,'' and neither a guaranteed success. Yet, as a nation we have endured.

The nation's history "was made possible by ordinary people who kept their moral compass pointed straight and true when the way seemed treacherous, when the climb seemed steep and when the future seemed uncertain,'' Obama says in the opener. "People who recognized a fundamental part of our American character: that we can remake ourselves - and our nation - to fit our larger dreams."

So today without further ado we present the story of America, The Story of US.
