The Mars Underground

The Mars Underground  is a wonderful documentary that outlines the arguments within the space advocacy community concerning the next logical step in humanity’s quest to explore and eventually settle the high frontier of space. But, is a mission to Mars really the next logical step as we enter the second phase of the Space Age?

At the dawn of the 21st century, space agencies in Europe and America are making plans to land the first humans on Mars. But manned missions to the red planet have been proposed before. For some Mars holds the answers to mankind's future in space. Others say Mars is too far, too dangerous and too expensive for humans to explore. And in a world torn by troubles, some say there's no need or will for mankind to reach into space anymore.

Over forty years since the last Apollo astronauts walked on the moon, the American manned space program seems to have lost its way, unable to reach beyond even low-earth orbit. Astronautical engineer Dr. Robert Zubrin has been arguing for years that sending humans to Mars is the mission the space program needs.

The Mars Underground is available on DVD from Amazon Books. Also make it a point to read Robert Zubrin's compelling book the Case for Mars also available from Amazon Books in Kindle and paperback editions.

Since the beginning of human history Mars has been an alluring dream; the stuff of legends, gods, and mystery. The planet most like ours, it has still been thought impossible to reach, let alone explore and inhabit.

Now with the advent of a revolutionary new plan, all this has changed. Leading space exploration authority Robert Zubrin has crafted a daring new blueprint, Mars Direct, presented here with illustrations, photographs, and engaging anecdotes.

The Case for Mars is not a vision for the far future or one that will cost us impossible billions. It explains step-by-step how we can use present-day technology to send humans to Mars within ten years; actually produce fuel and oxygen on the planet's surface with Martian natural resources; how we can build bases and settlements; and how we can one day "terraform" Mars; a process that can alter the atmosphere of planets and pave the way for sustainable life.
